Sergeant Michael Blair of the Sykesville Police Department's Auxiliary Unit was honored at the Knights of Columbus Awards Banquet, June 13, 2009, for being named Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. After serving only 2 ½ years as an officer on the Auxiliary Unit, his accomplishments have gone a long way in ensuring our quality of life in the Town of Sykesville.
Sergeant Blair serves as liaison with Sykesville's business owners, conducts foot patrols in the community and school crossing details, directs traffic flow during accidents and power outages, educating individuals at town events on information and resources concerning preventative home safety tips, house checks and much more. These contributions are only a small portion of services Sergeant Blair provides our community and its citizens.
Sergeant Blair and his wife, Pat, who also donates much of her personal time to the community, were the guests of honor at the banquet along with a Carroll County educator and clergyman who were also honored for their work and dedication to the community. All three were recognized by the Knights of Columbus for the services they provide their community and the impact their work has had on Carroll County.
