Justin Ready has officially filed his statement of candidacy in Annapolis last Friday for the House of Delegates in District 5A with the State Board of Elections. “In the short time since I announced, my campaign has received an outpouring of support,” said Ready, a Westminster native and small business owner.

According to a Patrick Gonzalez Poll completed over the weekend, Delegate Pat McDonough has the potential to conduct a strong race for Baltimore County Executive. The party breakdown in Baltimore County is 2.7 to 1, Democrat versus Republican. The poll indicated that Delegate McDonough's name recognition was 44% with 20% favorable and 6% unfavorable. In a match-up with the two leading Democrat contenders, McDonough received 26% with Democrat Council member Kevin Kamenetz receiving 32% with 42% undecided. The other Democrat candidate, Councilman Joseph Bartenfelder, received 32% with McDonough receiving 27% and 41% undecided.

Scott Brown leads Martha Coakley 51-46 in our final Massachusetts Senate poll, an advantage that is within the margin of error for the poll.

Governor Martin O'Malley selected Charles A. Jenkins, a sitting Frederick County Commissioner, to fill the District 3B House of Delegates vacancy left by Delegate Rick Weldon's resignation. Jenkins was nominated by the Washington County Republican Central Committee, one of two committees charged with submitting a nomination to the Governor for appointment to the vacancy. The Governor met with both candidates last night before making a final selection.
