The exhibit is free and open to the public. An opening reception will be held at 6 p.m. March 23 in Decker College Center.

The Chocolatefest, a fundraiser of the Freedom District Lioness Club, will still be held on Sunday, March 21, from 2 to 5 p.m. The event, scheduled for the social hall at the Sykesville Freedom District Fire Department, will be relocated to the Pleasant Valley Fire Department, 2030 South Pleasant Valley Road, Westminster. The change was necessitated by the February 11 fire at the Sykesville Freedom District Fire Department.

 The_Commitments Film Lovers in Carroll County (FLICC) has chosen the inspiring 1991 film “The Commitments” to be screened at the Carroll Arts Center on Friday, March 12 at 8 pm. This film, full of hard driving music and Irish spirit, is a great way to kick off the “St. Patty’s” weekend.

 barleyjuice_1 The high energy Celtic-Rock band “Barleyjuice” has been one of the Carroll Arts Center’s most popular offerings. This year, they are bringing the band in for two concerts of “drinkin’, fightin’, courtin’, dyin’, and sailin’ songs of the Emerald Isles! The live concerts will take place Saturday March 13 at 2 pm and 8 pm.

WESTMINSTER – McDaniel College presents “The Pomegranate Seed: An Exploration of Appetite, Body Image, and Myth in Modern Culture ” 7 p.m. Feb. 22 in Baker Chapel. Admission is a $10 donation to benefit local women’s organizations. McDaniel students, faculty and staff are admitted for free. The play, created and performed by Cosy Sheridan, comes to campus as the nation marks February as Eating Disorder Awareness Month and deals with women’s generally negative image of their own bodies as shaped by our culture.
