While so much focus is on the presidential race, there are numerous state ballot initiatives under consideration that will impact the lives of American citizens across the country. One of the most important of these initiatives is Maryland Ballot Question 4, which would provide taxpayer-funded tuition discounts to illegal alien students.

Annapolis, Md. – Thursday the Maryland Marriage Alliance began airing a television commercial “Parents Have No Rights.”  The 30-second commercial highlights one of the threats that parents face if same-sex marriage becomes law.  Based on what has happened across the country, parents in Maryland have a real concern about the rights they lose if Question 6 passes.

Maryland Dream Act Places Unfair Financial Burden On Students and Taxpayers

The burden on the citizen taxpayer will never stop if the so-called Dream Act is allowed to become law. Let us put aside emotional misinformation and whip out our calculators. One illegal alien student completing a four year college program will cost the taxpayers $42,000. It breaks down to an $8,000 tuition discount for 2 years of community college and a $32,000 discount for 2 years at the University of Maryland. The advocates for the Dream Act claim that only 1% of the student body statewide will be illegal aliens. That translates into 1,500 Dream Act students per year, costing the taxpayers $63,000 annually. When all 4 classes are established and in place, taxpayers will be compelled to pay $228 million a year.
