Maryland Petition to Place O'Malley's Redistricting Plan on the 2012 Ballot
We are so close to getting this on the ballot, but don't have enough signatures yet. Today is the last day to mail in petitions to PO Box 32, Funkstown, MD 21734 and be guaranteed that we will have the petitions in time for our Saturday, June 30th turn in. If you could help us with even one (1) more signature, that could put us over the top.
Now is the last chance to stop O'Malley's Divisive Congressional Redistricting Map, and you can help make Maryland history.
In 1962, the congressional redistricting map at the time was petitioned to referendum, made it on the ballot, and the map was turned down by the voters in November's election. This led to a good map drawn by the courts in 1965 and to a great Maryland redistricting map in 1972. Since 1972, the map has gotten worse and worse so that now we have one of the most divisive congressional districting maps in the country.
Have you seen Maryland's 1972 map? Click here to see it. The 1972 map kept Maryland communities together, as contrasted with the 2012 map, shown here.
Let's demand a new map. that keeps Maryland communities together.
We have until Saturday at midnight to turn all of the petitions in to the Secretary of State in Annapolis, but need them mailed today so that get them and process them in time for Saturday's turn-in.
We are also asking for petitions to be turned in at drop off points shown HERE, and the locations listed below, up until 4 PM on Saturday:
Hagerstown - 1101 Frederick Street in Hagerstown (410) 774-0121
Frederick - 314 West Patrick Street in Frederick (301) 732-5664
Annapolis - 205 Main Street in Annapolis (888) 910-5333
Severna Park - 537 Ritchie Highway - 2nd Floor Severna Park (443) 995-8365
Baltimore County - 1233 Dulaney Valley Road in Baltimore Corner of St. Francis and Dulany (Red Rancher Home) (410) 344-7719
Montgomery County - 15704 Kanawha Court in Derwood (240) 447-1884
With the US Supreme Court refusing to hear a minor challenge to the congressional redistricting map, this referendum effort is the last chance we have to try to get a more representative map.
Please help us get the signatures to stop this map that divides our communities all across the state. If you haven't yet had a chance to sign the petition yourself please go to MDPetitions.com, and for a volunteer link that allows you to collect signatures, please go here.
This map affects every one of us. If our communities are divided, your community is left without a voice in congress. Thanks again for all of your help.
Sincerely,
Neil Parrott
